MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE
INVITES COMMUNITY TO ENJOY ART OPEN HOUSE

MONTEREY, CA – September 15, 2015 – Monterey Peninsula College invites the public to attend an evening celebrating the recently renovated Art Department studio facilities complex next Thursday, September 24. The Open House will start at 5pm and is free to the public; no fees will be charged for parking.

“With appreciation to the community for supporting the Bond Measure in 2002 that allowed us to make critical improvements to many of our facilities, including the Creative Art buildings, we’d like to invite the public to see and experience the wonderful art programs that MPC has to offer,” states Dr. Walter Tribley, MPC Superintendent/President.

Classes taught in the Art facilities include Studio Arts, Graphic Arts, Photography, and Art History. Jamie Dagdigian, Chair of MPC’s Art Department, explains, “We believe that art is a vital means of connecting people to one another and to the world. Our students’ truly benefit from engaging in creative learning experiences; they gain skills that apply well beyond the classroom.”

The Open House will feature tours and demonstrations led by MPC art faculty, displays of student work, and light refreshments prepared by MPC Culinary students. The MPC Art Gallery will also be open, and is currently exhibiting, “Alchemy of Memory,” a collection of mixed media watercolors by Lindsey Dunnagan. The Gallery is typically open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Friday from 11:00am-4:00pm, and Thursdays from 11:00am-7:00pm.
