FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MPC’s BOOSTER CLUB
FLIES IN THE FACE OF TRADITIONAL FUNDRAISING
MONTEREY, CA – October 17, 2016 - The Monterey Peninsula College Foundation’s Lobos Booster Club is no ordinary fundraising group. For the third year in a row, the Club is organizing its now infamous “Rubber Chicken Drop Raffle,” which will take place during MPC’s November 5 football game versus Hartnell College. Proceeds from the raffle support more than 225 student-athletes at MPC, who are all full-time students in addition to their participation on one of 14 collegiate sports teams.
With eager spectators waiting below, Beccie Michael, MPC Foundation Executive Director, will drop three rubber chickens equipped with LED lighting from a helicopter hovering over the field. Booster Club organizers measure the chickens’ landing places to determine who of the 100 lucky ticket-holders will win. First chicken begets a $1,000 cash prize, while second and third chickens garner gift card packages from various local restaurants and entertainment venues.
“This is by far the most exciting and amusing workday of the year for me,” Ms. Michael explains. “Though I’ll be several hundred feet above the crowd, I can feel the excitement building in the stands once the helicopter comes into view.”
Raffle tickets ($100/each) are available for purchase until sold out by calling the MPC Foundation at (831) 646-4120. The 6PM Kickoff against cross county rivals, Hartnell College, is a highly anticipated game. At 6-0, MPC’s football team is currently undefeated. Add to that a helicopter, and the chance to win $1000, and you have one exciting evening line-up.
