Monterey Peninsula College Foundation Receives Grant Awards

MONTEREY, CA—June 30, 2011—The Monterey Peninsula College Foundation is pleased to have recently received the following grants:

  • $15,000 from the Barnet Segal Charitable Trust to support the MPC’s Men In Nursing program of the Maurine Church Coburn School of Nursing. The grant will support male nursing students by providing a valuable peer resource to men pursuing a career in the field of nursing. The Men In Nursing program serves a vital role in ensuring gender diversity in the nursing profession as a whole.
  • $50,000 from the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, host of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, to support the MPC Foundation and enable the MPC Library and Technology Center to purchase electronic research tools and online resource databases. The MPC Library and Technology Center functions as an information gateway, providing online access to critically important resources that can be available regardless of location or time of day. The MPC Library and Technology Center serves faculty, staff, and students, and is also open to the community at large.
  • $5,000 from the Pebble Beach Company Foundation to the MPC Foundation’s President’s Circle in support of student scholarships, faculty and staff advancement, and book awards for the MPC Student Services’ textbook lending program.

The Monterey Peninsula College Foundation advances the educational experience of students, faculty, and staff of the Monterey Peninsula College by raising funds for student scholarships, instructional and library materials, professional development for faculty and staff, facilities improvements and academic programs.
