Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Jane Smiley Will Read From Her Work at MPC

PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING AUTHOR JANE SMILEY WILL

READ FROM HER WORK AT MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE

 MONTEREY, CA—April 10, 2012— Novelist Jane Smiley will read from

her fiction and discuss the writing of novels at 7PM on Thursday, April 19 in Lecture Forum 103 at Monterey Peninsula College. Doors open at 6:40PM; tickets ($10) will be sold at the event and are available in advance at the MPC Humanities Division office, HSS109. 

Awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her novel, A Thousand Acres, Smiley is the author of many other highly regarded books including Private Life, Ten Days in the Hills, Horse Heaven, True Blue, and 13 Ways of Looking at the Novel. In 2006 she was awarded PEN USA’s Lifetime Achievement Award for her literary accomplishments.

 A book signing will follow the reading and discussion; copies of the author’s books will be available for purchase. This MPC Guest Authors Series event is made possible by the MPC Humanities Division and English Department, the new MPC Creative Writing Certificate Program, the MPC Foundation, and The Arts Council for Monterey County.
