Scholarships Program Reaches New Heights

In 2024, we expanded the number of scholarship funds we manage by 9%, bringing the total to 106 Scholarships. In addition, thanks to our focused efforts to increase outreach and support for local high school students, we achieved a 282% increase in the number of scholarship applications from high school students.

"I am most importantly a brother, uncle, and role model. This is the true reason why I work so hard. To make it the norm in my family and across the community to get a higher education. With the aid of the MPC Foundation, I am blessed to be able to continue on my path to educational success and generational fortune."

Making College Possible for Monterey County Youth

With the support of the life-changing Evans College Incentive Program, 50 high school seniors were given the opportunity to continue their education in 2024. A shining example of the program’s purpose, Stephanie was the first in her family to complete high school and went on to earn two Associates degrees and transfer to CSU Long Beach.

"To the donors that supported me at MPC, I would like to say thank you so much. There are truly not enough words I can say to express my endless gratitude. Without them and this program, I would not be where I am. They have given me hope that there are people out there who want me to succeed."

Unlocking Futures for Student Success

Internships help students clarify career goals, build professional networks, gain valuable skills and experience, and ultimately lead to job placement. MPC facilitated 111 internship placements throughout the community in 2024, while the Foundation paid $40,000 in stipends to ensure students with challenging economic circumstances could participate in these valuable experiences.

"My internship at the Naval Postgraduate School positively influenced me by giving me the opportunity to earn extremely valuable practical experience, making me realize that I can do so much more than I thought I could in terms of being a lab scientist and teaching me about the many careers I didn’t know existed in biochemical and chemical engineering. My experience introduced me to a great mentor and great people in STEM."

Meaningful Legacies

We are honored by the support of a growing number of Legacy Society members who remember the MPC Foundation in their estate plans. In 2023, we received generous legacy gifts from Phi Ho Nguyen and Laura Mignano. Mr. Nguyen attended MPC in 1963-64 as a first generation college student. His inspirational gift to support STEM students resulted in the naming of MPC’s Anatomy Laboratory after his parents, Anna and Andrew Nguyen, as well as a scholarship endowment.
